Nerds candy has an unusual shape and a thin coating that makes it similar to rock candy. Nerds were created by Angelo Fraggo and production began in 1983. Two years later in 1985 Nerds was recognized as the “Candy of the Year” by the National Candy Wholesalers Association (NCWA). Nerds often come with two different flavors with the box.
